Gifted Artists Concerto Gala 2019

The 2019 Gifted Artists Concerto Gala was held on May 26th at the Chan Centre for Performing Arts.

Concerto Competition Winners Announced

The highly successful second annual MSMVan Concerto Competition took place on February 24th, 2019 and the winners have been announced here. Congratulations to all the winners and their teachers! Trophies and Medals will be presented at the 2019 Awards Recital and Ceremony on March 3, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Showcase Pianos, 1128 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC.

Ms Alana ChanMs Alana Chan, MA (Music with Distinction), BSc, ARCT (Piano Performance), RMT (CFMTA, BCRMTA, HKPTA) was adjudicator for the late beginner, intermediate, and advanced piano concerto competition categories.

Jonathan DerMr. Jonathan Der (MMus) was adjudicator for the strings section of the competition.

Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival Winners Announced

MSMVan is pleased to announce the students who won top honours in the 2019 Vancouver Kiwanis Music Festival. Congratulations to them and their teachers!

GOCAA International Piano Competition (Vancouver) Winners Announced

MSMVan student, Julia Cho, has won Second Place (and is a finalist) in the 2019 Global Outstanding Chinese Artists Association International Piano Competition in Vancouver. Congratulations to Julia and her teacher, Dr. Jee Yeon Ryu!

Watch Gifted MSMVan Student Perform at PIYMS Competition

Leonard Fang, a piano student of Dr. Scott Meek of the Mozart School of Music, Vancouver, recently entered the Pacific International Youth Music Society competition in the category Piano, ages 12 to 14 and won the second-place scholarship. Previously, he also participated in the MSMVan Young Artist Concerto Gala at the Chan Center.

Our next Chigiri-e Japanese Paper Art Workshop is this Saturday, June 29 from 1:00-3:00pm.

Please join our artist-teacher Leanne Lai to learn and create beautiful art works using hand-dyed Japanese Washi papers.

And, congratulation to Leanne!

Her beautiful Chigiri-e artwork will be part of the Harmony Arts Festival in West Vancouver this summer. Opening day is August 2 and the festival runs until August 11.

If you can't make it this Saturday, Leanne's workshop at MSMVan will be offered again on August 24 from 1:00-3:00pm - hope to see you all soon!
