2023 Mastery Spring Break Camps
Mastery School of Music is pleased to announce the 2023 Spring Break Camps. These one-week camps will take place over the two-week period from March 13th to March 24th. Each camp is scheduled half days from Monday through Friday in each week (March 13-17 and March 20-24), either mornings or afternoons. The Mastery campus is located on the UBC Campus in Wesbrook Village at 3396 Shrum Lane. Camp registrations tend to fill up rapidly, and you are encouraged to register early. Singing Favorite Popular Songs
March 13-17, 2023, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon | Ages 7–12 | $350.00
In this camp participants sing their favorite popular songs and create movement for them. Songs may include “Roar” (Katy Perry), “Centuries” (Fall Out Boy), “Thunder” (Imagine Dragons), “High Hopes” (Panic), “Shake It Off” (Taylor Swift/Reese Witherspoon), and “Dance Monkey” (Tones and I), as well as songs from popular movies and musicals. Each day begins with short vocal warm-up exercises and ear training through singing together in tune. This is followed by learning two to three songs and choreographing movement to the lyrics. The week ends with a short presentation for the parents.
Little Music Makers
March 20-24, 2023, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 noon | Ages 4–6 | $325.00
This camp is ideal for those looking to have an exposure to a variety of musical experiences in a fun-filled, friendly, and welcoming environment. The session is broken into three modules that include Orff and Kodály, Recorder Class, and Introductory Piano Class.
Required Instrument: A recorder is required for participation. This can be purchased for $15.00 at the time of registration.
Music for Young Violinists
March 13-17, 2023, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon | Ages 6–8 | $350.00
Children in this class will experience a fun-filled, high-energy approach to early music education on the violin. Campers will learn the fundamental elements of violin playing using the Suzuki Method–a popular method of music instruction for children ages three years old and up that emphasizes ear training and encourages motivation and positive experiences. Some concepts covered during the week include basic posture, bow and violin holds, musical terminology, improvisation, expression, and five twinkle rhythms, as well as exposure to a variety of classic musical examples in a music-appreciation format.
Required Instrument: A violin is required for participation. This can be rented for the week for $15 at the time of registration.
Pop Music Makers

March 20-24, 2023, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. | Ages 6–12 | $350.00
This camp is designed to draw the musician out of everyone, whether the student has a musical background or not. The session is broken into short modules, including Guitar Class, Introduction to Percussion, and Making Music on the iPad/iPhone using GarageBand. Each module will focus on exposing children to new and exciting aspects of the music world.
Required Equipment: Guitars are required for participation in the program. These can be rented for an additional $15 at the time of registration. While not required, it is recommended that each student have an iPad/iPhone with the latest version of GarageBand loaded on it.
Music x Coding
March 20-24, 2023, 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. | Ages 6–10 | $375.00
This new kind of camp experience explores the combination of music and coding. Participants will learn about the intersection of these components by creating their own digital games. This interactive, interdisciplinary program is stimulating for creative minds.
Prerequisites: No previous music or coding experience is required. This camp is most suitable for those who have not had any or less than one year of music instruction.
Required Equipment: Bringing an iPad or laptop is required.
