Vivienne Thamrin (MMus)

 
Vivienne Thamrin began learning piano at the age of five at Yamaha Music School Jakarta, Indonesia, where she was enrolled in the Junior Special Advanced Course. Embracing her identity as a young musician, her talent flourished through performances at numerous music festivals, concerts, and masterclasses. To further develop her artistry, she studied with one of Indonesia’s most accomplished pianists, Dr. Edith Widayani, who became a cherished mentor. 
At fifteen, Vivienne moved to Beijing to continue her studies at the Central Conservatory of Music under Prof. Ling Yuan.

She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Piano Performance at the University of British Columbia with Dr. David Fung. 

An active soloist and chamber musician, Vivienne has performed across Asia, Europe, and North America, with appearances at the Chan Centre, the Orpheum, and in Italy at Music Fest Perugia under the baton of Marius Stravinsky. Vivienne is the recipient of multiple scholarships at the UBC School of Music and was recently awarded First Prize in the VAM Concerto Competition, performing as soloist with the VAM Symphony Orchestra. In the past few years, she has been awarded both Internationally and Nationally within Indonesia, with Gold Prize in WPTA Singapore International Piano Competition, First Prize winner of Ananda Sukarlan Award 2020, First Prize winner of Piano Nusantara Competition, and First Prize winner of the Blüthner Piano Competition 2016.
