Nina Wang (BMus)

 

Nina Wang is a musical artist pursuing her undergraduate degree studies in piano performance at
the University of British Columbia under the guidance of Dr. David Fung. Nina began her piano
journey at the age of four and obtained her ARCT diploma in piano performance in 2019. She
has also studied collaborative piano with Prof. Rena Sharon and Dr. Wayne Weng and has
participated in masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Dr. Sara Davis Buechner, Dr.
Emely Phelps, Ilana Vered, and Janina Fialkowska.


Nina enjoys connecting with others through performing and discovering the depths of music
through various summer music academies. During her stay at the Orford Academy of Music in
2022, Nina was nominated to play in the Orford on the Road Student Concert Series at the
Saint-François-Xavier de Brompton Church. Nina has also performed at the University of
Anchorage Alaska Recital Hall as part of the Anchorage Chamber Music Intensive in 2024.


Furthermore, she enjoys performing in various community outreach events at local senior homes.
Nina has won several awards in local and national festivals. She was awarded first place in the
Senior Canadian Composers category at the Performing Arts BC Provincial Festival in 2022 and
was selected as a national finalist at the 2022 Canadian Music Competition. Her other
achievements include receiving the Gold Award in the Steinway Competition and the Kwantlen
Polytechnic University International Music Festival Most Promising Senior Level Performer
Award in 2021.


Having fallen in love with the process of learning the piano, Nina’s mission is to share that
passion with all her students, cultivate an interactive learning environment, and inspire them to discover the artist within themselves.
