Conor Stuart (BMus, MMus, DMA(cand.))

Conor Stuart is a Vancouver-based professional violinist who is active as a solo, chamber, and orchestral musician. In 2021-2022 Conor was the 1st violin with UBC’s Graduate Quartet in Residence. He has previously been the 2nd violin with the Regina Symphony Quartet and Regina Symphony Chamber Players, and the 2nd violin with the University of Calgary Quartet. Conor also has extensive orchestral experience in ensembles across Canada. He has previously been the Acting Principal 2nd Violin of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, the Assistant Concertmaster of the Saskatoon Symphony, and a member of the National Academy Orchestra of Canada. He also works as a freelance and guest musician with a variety of ensembles.

Conor is also an experienced and passionate teacher. Besides his work at the Mastery School of Music, he is the Violin Instructor for Douglas College and at the Richmond Arts Centre, and he has previously taught at the Regina Conservatory of Music and the Wilton Academy of Music in Saskatoon. He also maintains a private teaching studio.

Conor is pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in violin performance at the University of British Columbia, where he studies with Jasper Wood. He holds a Master’s degree in violin performance from the University of Calgary, where he studied with Edmond Agopian. His previous teachers include Mark Ferris, Nancy DiNovo, Eugenia Choi, and Donna Griblin. He also holds a Bachelor of Music in composition from UBC, where he studied with Stephen Chatman, Jeffrey Ryan, Dorothy Chang, and Keith Hamel, as well as an ARCT in Piano Performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music.
