Shira Agam

From Chicago, Illinois, Shira Agam is pursuing her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of British Columbia. She has played with numerous large and small brass chamber groups, wind ensembles, and orchestras in the Vancouver area. Shira has performed at conferences and concerts around the world, including at the International Trumpet Guild conference and the Illinois Music Educators Association conference. Currently studying with Larry Knopp, she has worked with many other renowned trumpeters, among them Mary Bowden, David Dash, Ronald Romm, Karen Donnelly, and Robert Sullivan. For the past seven years, she has enjoyed teaching students in Grades 6 to 12. In her instruction, she follows the teachings of Vincent Chichowicz and believes that all young people should have the opportunity to create music. When not practising her trumpet, Shira is busy studying to complete a BA Honours degree in Biophysics.
