Mariya Krywaniuk (MMus)

Canadian soprano Mariya Krywaniuk trained formally at the Manhattan School of Music where she completed her Masters in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Mignon Dunn. While in New York, Mariya was a prize-winner in the prestigious Gerda Lissner International Vocal Competition and a New York district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. After several years in New York, Mariya moved to London UK where she worked as a freelance opera singer. Mariya has sung on the opera stage and concert platform in the US, Canada, Italy, Czech Republic, Israel, and the UK. Performing highlights include: Madame Butterfly with New Devon Opera, covering the role of Berg’s Lulu at English National Opera, Gerhilde (Die Walkure) at Royal Festival Hall and the Step-Mother in the UK premiere of Philip Glass’ opera The Juniper Tree.

During her time in London, Mariya developed a busy teaching studio. She successfully prepared students for Grades 1-8 Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) singing exams and for the Grade 5 Music Theory exam. Many of her students successfully auditioned for music scholarships and youth opera programs. She is comfortable teaching a vast repertoire including folk songs, lieder, chanson, musical theatre, opera and art song. Throughout her studies and career as an opera singer, Mariya has worked with some of the most incredible artists in the world. She loves sharing the knowledge and experience she has gathered over her twenty years of study and performance. Mariya has helped talented students excel to new heights and has helped struggling students develop a love for singing. She is committed to developing a joy of singing and a passion for performance in her students.
