Jamie Onwood (BMus)

Jamie Onwood is a coloratura soprano who received her BMus from Northwestern University. A native of Chicago, Jamie’s love for singing and performing began at a young age. She began singing with the Lyric Opera of Chicago’s children’s chorus as well as many other theatre companies in the area. During her time at Northwestern she has been seen in productions of La nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, and Mozart’s The Impresario.

Since making Vancouver home she has performed for several organizations such as City Opera Vancouver, Burnaby Lyric Opera, Northstar Performing Arts, Opera Kelowna, and the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. She performed Die Königen der Nacht as a guest artist in Die Zauberflöte with the Vancouver Academy of Music. Jamie has recently been studying with Patricia Sheridan in New York and coached with Joshua Greene from the Met.

Sharing her love of music and passion for learning, Jamie has been teaching for over 12 years. She centers her teaching on healthy singing, by learning how to support properly and maintain a relaxed tone.
