Leanne Lai (ARCT)

Leanne Lai has studied and played the piano since she was ten years old. She attended the 5-year music program at the Tainan Junior Girls College in Taiwan, where she studied voice and piano. In her fourth year, she started teaching piano at the Yamaha Music School. During her time there, some of her students won piano competitions. In order to further her education, she decided to move to Toronto and study performance at the Royal Conservatory of Music. It was here she received her ARCT. After completing her ARCT, she returned to Taiwan, where she continued her teaching career. She taught many successful students, who went on to study music at school themselves. A few years later she was hired as the music director of a small college in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Here she organized concerts and developed a successful music program. She translated for Trinity music examiners and organized and translated for their Master classes. She was also an adjudicator for local piano competitions. Since moving to Vancouver, she has taught children’s music classes.

Leanne is an experienced teacher with decades of piano and music teaching experience. She loves to see a student go from knowing little about music, to being able to produce a beautiful and heart-touching piece of music. She believes students need guidance, encouragement, and care in order to achieve these goals. She loves and has experience teaching all ages and levels of student.

Leanne’s other interests include art. She is an artist working in the Japanese art form Chigiri-e, and has taught classes in this art in Vancouver for several years. It is her joy to help people find beauty in the things they create.
