In these arts-based piano classes, we will learn to create a variety of soundscapes by exploring music, drawing, improvisation, storybooks, and poetry as inspirations to discover our own piano playing and artworks. We will learn to use extended piano techniques (i.e., plucking the strings, using mallets inside the piano, adding objects to the piano strings to create new sounds etc.), make drawings about our music and piano playing, read storybooks for inspirations, and write poetry to express our own musical ideas. All the music and art making will focus on students’ creative learning process.
